When I started this quest of earning points, I applied for a credit card that was shiny, had a BUNCH of bonus points, and the promise of being able to use their lounges. What I didn’t realize is…That particular airline didn’t fly much from my home airport, the mileage rate sucked, and I was never in an airport that their fancy lounges were in!
I learned a valuable lesson, and several years later I have mastered the “Points and Miles” game. But let me make 1 thing very clear…The credit card companies are NOT your friend. The interest rates they charge should be criminal. They make BILLIONS every year off the backs of hard working Americans. So every time I open a credit card, and I use THEIR rules to get free trips, I count that as a BIG WIN in my book. And every time I help someone else do the same thing, it’s another win for the little guys like us.
Every new credit card has rules on how to earn the bonus points. Generally speaking, you have to spend $xxx in xxx days to get the points.
